Birmingham, Alabama. Great weather on tap for Friday into Saturday. Storms later on in weekend.

Well finally the weather is shaping up! Skies are clearing out, and I expect a generous supply of sunshine on Friday. It does not take much sunshine to warm it up quickly this time of year. In fact we made it to 66 Friday afternoon with that little bit of sunshine. We will do even better on Friday with low 70’s expected. Dry weather will continue Friday night and Saturday with temperatures on Saturday again getting to the low 70’s, or maybe a little higher than that. We will feel the wind increase Saturday, and there may be some increase in cloud cover. But it will still be a nice day. Even Saturday evening will be okay, before things get rough and tumbly. A super-strong cold front will arrive Sunday morning. In its wake, temperatures will fall like a rock Sunday afternoon. As the front comes through there is a 100% chance of rain. The question is will it be just a wind-blown rain or will we get some severe weather. There are certainly plenty of dynamics with this system, and it is the middle of March. The question remains of how much instability there will be. If it increases enough, there could be an outbreak of severe weather. Meteorologist Stephanie Walker and myself will be studying the parameters Friday, and we will keep you posted on the latest. Very chilly weather will take over Sunday night and Monday, and I cannot even rule out a passing snow flurry!
