Gorgeous Spring Weekend Forecast!

Gannon Medwick

Hi, I’m Storm Team 9 Meteorologist Gannon Medwick with your EASTERN NC FORECAST: For Friday and Saturday, a tranquil high pressure system will build in the wake of an ocean storm that brought clouds and 0 - 1” of rain to the Channel 9 viewing area Thursday (see rain totals from some communities below).  Spring officially arrives at 1:32pm Saturday!  The next storm system, and associated rain chances, won’t likely reach our area until either late Sunday or Monday.

FRIDAY FORECAST DETAILS: sunny, north winds 5 - 15mph, inland highs 67 - 73, coastal highs 59 - 66

FRIDAY NIGHT FORECAST DETAILS: clear, nearly calm winds, inland lows 36 - 42, coastal lows 39 - 45

SATURDAY FORECAST DETAILS: sunny, light and variable winds, inland highs 71 - 77, coastal highs 64 - 70

SUNDAY FORECAST DETAILS: partly cloudy, a stray shower or thunderstorm but many spots will stay dry, south or southwest winds 5 - 15mph, continued mild highs of 70+ for most areas

As mentioned, a better chance of showers and thunderstorms will arrive with the next storm system Sunday night and Monday.  See adjacent 7-Day Forecast for details and, of course, stay with Storm Team 9 for forecast updates!

RAIN AMOUNTS FROM THURSDAY’S OCEAN STORM include 0.86” at Morehead City, 0.23” at Havelock, 0.05” at Jacksonville, 0.05” at New Bern, 0.01” at Hatteras, and nothing - as expected - over far inland locations like Kinston, Greenville, Washington, and points north and west.
